Pee Dee Regional Academic Challenge Tournament
The Pee Dee Education Center hosted the annual regional Middle School Academic Challenge Tournament at Francis Marion University on February 14, 2026 with 18 schools from 10 districts taking part in the event. All-Stars from each school were also acknowledged. The High School Academic Challenge Tournament was held on March 7, 2026 with 14 schools from 9 districts.
In Division One, John W. Moore Middle School defeated Williams Middle School.
In Division Two, Latta Middle School defeated Chesterfield-Ruby Middle School.
In Division One High School, Wilson High School defeated West Florence High School.
In Division Two High Schools, Mayo High School for Math, Science & Technology defeated Latta High School.

State Championship of Academics
On March 17, 2023, the Pee Dee Education Center hosted the 9th Annual State Championship of Academics at Francis Marion University. Students from all over the state came down to compete in the tournament. The winners were:
Division One Middle Schools - Lakeside Middle School (Lexington County School District 1 - Midlands)
Division Two Middle Schools - Latta Middle School
(Latta School District 3 - Pee Dee)
Division One High Schools - Rock Hill High School
(York School District 3 - Olde English)
Division Two High Schools - Ninety-Six High Shool (Greenwood School District #52 - Western Piedmont)
